"Imagine you wake up one day and decide to publish your own newspaper, or to make a new quiz show for Channel 4, or to set up a community radio station. The chances are that no matter how enthusiastic you are about your schemes, they are unlikely to get very far - at least not in the short term. This is because however talented or hardworking you may be, in order to do any of these things you will need access to technology and money to pay for the resources to get your idea off the ground. You will need these things because you are going to make a product or commodity that you want people to use, in just the same way that any other manufacturer makes a product to be sold."
